Newsday 2009
Posted on June 12th, 2009 No commentsOn Thursday, Y6 students from Waterbeach and Willingham joined students from CVC to take part in a Newsday competition. The pupils worked in four teams with students from Y7 and Y8, each with a Y10 team leader, to produce a newspaper based on the actual news of the day.
With a deadline of 3 pm, everybody had to work really hard to complete their newspaper, which needed to be not only well written and accurate in terms of content but also as professional as possible in terms of layout and design.
The day was hectic to say the least with a real sense of newsroom ‘buzz’ and, at times, it seemed an impossible task! However, by the end of the day, all four teams had indeed completed their newspaper to a very high standard.
The prize for the winning team will be a trip round the newsroom of the Cambridge Evening News – results to be announced shortly.

Rounders Festival 2009
Posted on May 12th, 2009 No commentsAt Cottenham Village College approximately 100 year 3 students gathered for the annual rounders festival. There were students from Willingham, Waterbeach and Pendragon Primary schools. They all played 3 games in a round robin style tournament on 3 pitches. Each pitch therefore had a winner at the end of the day.
Pitch 1 was won by Waterbeach B team, pitch 2 by Willingham D1 team and pitch 3 by Pendragon C2 team, which meant that each school won one of the tournaments which proved a good result.
All students had a great time and learnt a lot about how to play the game and what rules were involved. Year 10 Sports leaders from the college organised and ran the event and did a great job!
